Before it became one of the most celebrated coffee beans of contemporary times, the Geisha varietal grew on coffee farms throughout the 20th century with little attention. Although it’s now associated almost exclusively with Panama, the beans’ origins are in Ethiopia, where it was gathered from the slopes of Mount Gesha for export in the 1930s.
