“The smell was already filling the room, a rich hot smell which seemed like an emanation from his early childhood, but which one did occasionally meet with even now, blowing down a passage-way before a door slammed, or diffusing itself mysteriously in a crowded street, sniffed for an instant and then lost again.”

In George Orwell's dystopian novel, 1984, protagonist Winston has been solely drinking the Government's 'Victory Coffee'. That is until Julia, his secret lover, brings him coffee from the black market. It is the first "real coffee" he has encountered in decades.

At Ovenbird Coffee Roasters, we can't imagine a world without a variety of coffee. Our '1984' blend has origins from Ethiopia Natural Sesoto, Nicaragua Hacienda Sajonia, and Kenya AA Nchengo. It has an approachable spectrum of flavours that produce a medium bodied, sweet cup with just the right amount of acidity. A powerful combination that pushes the limits of 'standard' coffee.
